After several years since he last raced, and of just riding the roads of this beautiful country, Justin has returned to the track. Justin has restored his G5 1000 Moto Guzzi to pristine condition, in race form. You can read about this in his blog The Creation of a Racer. First was some trackday time at Pukekohe Raceway.
The first race outing was at Taupo Raceway in September, but his main goal was to be ready for the Barry Sheene Motorcycle Classic at Hampton Downs in October. This is a Trans-Tasman event and the New Zealand round attracts competitors from around the world, including a large contingent from Australia.
On Saturday Justin was having electrical problems and sadly had to withdraw after a couple of laps. An overnight change of spark plus fixed the problem and he was immediately competitive. Andre and I were not there on Sunday but he was running well with the front runners and eventually finished a creditable 6th. Thanks to Greg Wood for these race photos.
Bring on the summer race season for Team J.
